About this deal

Three Points of the Compass is not a particularly doggy type chap, nor is this book particularly well written.

Not only does Mark Wallington's writing just reflect the mentality of every dog owner he gives such a rich characterisation to Boogie the dog that makes him just as relateable. The path goes along Devon and Cornwall's rugged north coasts and their less rugged south coasts as well as Dorset’s chalk cliffs. Two books in one, I enjoyed the walk around the South West Coastpath more than the rowing up the Thames river. It’s more about mark than boogie , that’s the only disappointing part about this book, I would like to have got my idea of the character of the dog. I liked the part when Mark said by the end of it, all Boogie had was a headache and identity crisis! What 500 Mile Walkies is, is a diverting, humorous, affectionate and self-deprecating account of Mark’s walk with possibly the worst, and best, canine companion it is possible to borrow from a friend relieved to be shot of his pet for a few weeks. In the second book, I found Jennifer annoying and cruel - I hope that it is true just so she can read it and see what a bitch she comes across as. The first story is a light-hearted travel tale of the author's walk round the Devon/Cornwall coastline, with an introduction to the inimitable Boogie, both right up my street. No missing or damaged pages, no creases or tears, no underlining or highlighting of text, and no writing in the margins.

I’m currently doing a virtual walk along the South West Coast Path (I’ve just walked around the Lizard peninsular) and so have revisited The Salt Path, and read this as being topical to my virtual walk. Mark Wallingtons travels with boogie are books that are very good to go back to after a read that has taken a lot of concentration and investment. Mile Walkies, Mark Wallington, First published by Hutchinson 1986, my edition published by Arrow 1987.Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. It is now measured at 630 miles, though on this latest re-read, having now started to walk the Path myself, I notice much more how many buses, cars and other short-cuts he takes.
