About this deal

Uncle B was my favourite character because he was saying nice things about people and helping to look after them. Many of his stories are inspired by his farming experiences, the children he taught, his large family and numerous pets. Max didn't get discouraged by the failure of his attemps but kept trying to find a way for his loved ones to cross the road safely. It's a great story for teaching road safety awareness, particularly as all of Max's early attempts to cross the road come so close to ending badly. This time he notices people crossing the road when they see a green man appearing on the traffic lights.

Max is a hedgehog who lives with his family in a nice little home, but it’s on the wrong side of the road from the park where there’s a beautiful lily pond and plenty of juicy slugs, worms, and snails! This book plays with language brilliantly and children would find it amusing and possibly difficult to understand to begin with but after one explanation they would really enjoy this book. This Planning a Non-chronological Report Year 2 English pack includes a detailed lesson plan, an engaging set of slides for the teaching input, and differentiated resources. The things I liked about the story are funny things that Max says like, “ the lolly pop lady is a witch with a magic wand that makes the cars stop”. Dick's story The Water Horse was also turned into a major Hollywood film, and The TV series' The Queen's Nose and Harry's Mad were very popular. Ariciul confuz nu este doar o poveste drăguță despre un arici adorabil, ci este o lectură din care poți deprinde multe învățături și ar trebui să fie obligatorie pentru toți copiii.I started to read it to him to calm him down prior to him leaving Nanny’s to go home (always a trial) and he was enthralled. The included slideshow presentation for the teaching input will show them two paragraphs, both containing the same facts but with one being more detailed than the other. I would recommend this book because it was very funny when Max the hedgehog got his words muddled up after he bumped his head against the kerbstone. King-Smith also uses the fact that Max is a hedgehog to be able to describe human objects in an unfamiliar way. The story begins with PA Hedgehog explaining to his children about the problems that hedgehogs have in crossing the road to get to the park.

His first attempt results in a bump on the head and Max starts to muddle up his words and loses his direction. Loved the hedgehog point of view and felt like this was a cross between Toad Rage by Morris Gleitzman and Make Way for Ducklings by Robert McCloskey. His first attempt ends in a nasty bump on the head, and Max finds when he tries to speak his words are all mixed up.Among his well-loved books is Babe, The Gallant Pig, which was recently made into a major motion picture, and was nominated for an Academy Award. He attempts to cross the road here but finds it difficult to avoid the people coming from the opposite direction and only just makes it to the other side. I really enjoyed this light tale for young readers, which explores the idea of a hedgehog having the intelligence to want to find a safe road crossing place for himself and his family, so they can travel safely to the local park.

After some careful detective work, Max eventually discovers the best way to cross the road - with the help of the lollipop lady, of course! Not only does it talk about a small hedgehog family life and some family etiquette but also, educate children on the rules, precautions and safety measures to be considered before crossing the road. The main character in the Hodgeheg is Max and he says mistakes because he got bumped on the head by a bicycle. In this Gathering Facts KS1 Lesson Pack, children will first revisit their understanding of facts as something that is true before playing 'true or false' linked to the information they extracted from the text in the previous lesson. Perfect for young listeners, this magical collection features one of Dick King-Smith's most-loved stories: The Hodgeheg. The main problem to the adult mind is the idea of hedgehogs trying to figure out a road safety plan. The slides will remind children of the features of a non-chronological report and discuss what they need to include in their plan. Still determined to fulfil his mission, Max discovers the best way to cross the road is with the help of the lollipop lady and some careful detective work.
