Lovely Girls: A Thriller
About this deal
Probably like the mother's in Lovely Girls, they are still in their clique, bestowing favours on the lucky few, but, for the main part, making a lot of people's lives miserable with their snubs, cutting remarks and innuendo. Though Kate is warned off on hanging with the women, she does anyway because she misses having friends and someone to talk to. When a mysterious neighborhood boy befriends his young daughter, stay-at-home dad Craig considers him a godsend—until it becomes clear that there’s nothing angelic about him at all. Not that this means the Hiccup Project are the next Fleabag (which seems crazy because no women existed before Phoebe Waller-Bridge. It's really a three and a half star read that I've rounded up to four as it doesn't really bring anything new or innovative to the genre and was relatively predictable.

I thoroughly enjoyed this most suspenseful, intriguing and entertaining story… It definitely had Big Little Lies vibes! A single mom, Kate and her daughter, Alex move to a new town to start fresh, after he husband was killed in a car accident while Alex was in the car. The film received fairly positive reviews and has a 77% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 48 reviews. Let her peers speak (even if you have to recruit some), I think we'd learn something by listening to them.I will remember the lesson of Lovely Girls the next time I am on vacation and think, I should move here . While the scenarios of bullying are specific her and her circumstances, it easily brought me back to the days when I was in high school and being bullied.
The atmosphere of the novel, set mostly on this wild Greek island, echoes strongly the classical tragedies of Greece. She incorporated the themes of bullying, mother/daughter relationships, grief, coping, starting over and fitting in into her book, Lovely Girls. But in a strange twist, Kate feels like she actually hit the jackpot, being accepted by the mothers of these mean girls.
It also doesn’t help that Alex is hiding the bullying that she is enduring-afraid that if her mom interferes-it will only make things worse.
